Course Description

You will learn to understand the organisation, theory and practice of criminal justice and human rights law at an international level. Organised crime, terrorist activity and regional civil wars go beyond national boundaries, affecting human rights beyond the interests and capacity of individual nation states.

The effective detection, investigation and prosecution of crime is increasingly dependent on closer harmonisation and co-operation between global institutions. This course will develop your understanding of the main global systems for the protection of human rights. It will also teach you about the main arguments for and against the universality of human rights, in the light of cultural diversity.

The qualifying law degree is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for the purposes of satisfying the academic stage of training.
