Course Description

Study community education and develop a research profile which can help your career progression in terms of practice or leadership.

This course will consolidate and strengthen your skills and expertise when working in communities, giving you the necessary skills and knowledge needed to successfully produce a dissertation on a topic related to your professional interests.

The core modules will encourage you to apply critical analysis, evaluation, and synthesis to key concepts, principles, and philosophies of critical community practice. We will also introduce you to research methods, giving you an appreciation of what is needed to conduct research in a professional field.

You will be given opportunities to collaborate with, and learn from, your fellow community education students and students from other courses, fostering a multi-disciplinary approach that mirrors many workplace situations.

You will be encouraged to use the skills, experience, and knowledge you have already gained during your time working or volunteering in the community.

This course allows you to focus on critical contemporary themes relating to community learning, social work, and education.

The qualifying law degree is recognised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) for the purposes of satisfying the academic stage of training.
