Course Description

Working across disciplines of acting, music and movement, this exciting and collaborative course responds to the creative industry demands of today by developing artists who will graduate as multi-skilled creative performers and practitioners.

This programme believes in learning through dynamic and rigorous artistic practice and most of your classes will be held in the studio, even when discussing theoretical aspects. To reflect this, 70% of your grade will be assessed through practical rehearsals, presentations and performances, whilst the remaining 30% will assess your critical understanding of drama and theatre and its application to performance, via reflective portfolios, online blogs, Viva Voce and essays. Second and third-year module grades contribute towards your final degree award classification. Project and performance work forms an inherent part of the overall course to further your journey as a creative artist. Alongside this, we expect you to independently engage in a wide range of theoretical and research-based assignments and study, in order to develop yourself as a thinking practitioner. This leads to a final year creative research project in which you will conduct an individual practice-as-research inquiry, leading to a public performance and written research report.

The University of East London, often abbreviated to UEL, states their goal being to become the leading careers-focused university in the United Kingdom. UEL operates from three different campuses; Stratford Campus, Docklands Campus, and University Square Stratford. The Docklands Campus is the largest of the three campuses, and is just a 15-20 minute walk away from Central London, and 10-15 minutes away from Canary Wharf by train.
