Course Description
CENTRAL & EAST EUROPEAN STUDIES: You will study the history, economics, politics and sociology of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. You will chart developments including processes of economic and territorial change, aspects of social and cultural diversity, migration and the role of the media. In addition, you will have the opportunity to study Hungarian,Czech, Polish, or Russian. QUANTITATIVE METHODS: The University of Glasgow’s Q-Step Centre offers programmes which develop your quantitative skills, or in other words, your ability to handle data and use numerical evidence. Developing quantitative skills and your confidence in using them will really enhance your insight and understanding of the key issues you encounter in your chosen field of study.

Additional requirements: A-level English or Humanities subject.
Pass HNC Group Award in the appropriate subject area and also obtain grade A in the Graded Unit. Must also have Higher English at grade B or above and successfully pass the University of Glasgow Summer School.
Pass HND Group Award in the appropriate subject area and also obtain grades BB in the Graded Units 1 and 2. Must also have Higher English at grade B or above and successfully pass the University of Glasgow Summer School.
Additional requirements: Higher English and a Higher Humanities subject or Mathematics.
Acceptable in appropriate subject area. Must have at least two thirds of modules passed with merit grade.
38 (6,6,6 HL) – 32 (6,5,5 HL) Additional requirements: HL English or Humanities subject.
Acceptable in appropriate subject area.
Must have two Arts/Humanities subjects at H1.
SQA applicants entering from S5 are required to achieve AAAAB by the end of S5. Applicants who achieve less than AAAAB by the end of S5 but achieved at least BBBB MAY receive a conditional offer, but a decision will not be made on these applications until March once all applications have been reviewed. Conditional offers to these applicants will require them to achieve AAAAB cumulatively by the end of S6.
