Course Description
Portuguese embraces the study of the languages, literatures and cultures of Brazil, Portugal and the wider Portuguese-speaking world. Portuguese at Glasgow offers a varied programme, in which you will work in small groups with native speakers from Portugal and Brazil. The programme has long-established links with the Instituto Camões. You will have full access to our Language Resources Centre, which offers excellent audiovisual, digital and printed materials.
Italian: studying Italian opens up the language and culture of a major EU country that has played a key role in Europe's political and artistic development. Glasgow has a long tradition of teaching in Italian studies, supported by excellent library resources in the subject. You will be taught in small groups, mostly by native speakers of Italian, giving you the opportunity to develop a high level of fluency in written and spoken Italian.

Additional requirements: one A-level Humanities subject.
AAAAA Higher or AAAA Higher+B Advanced Higher (BBBB S5 minimum for consideration) Additional requirements: Higher English and a Higher Humanities subject.
Acceptable in appropriate subject area. Must pass at least two thirds of modules with merit grade.
36 (6,6,5 HL) – 32 (6,5,5 HL) Additional requirements: HL English and HL Humanities subject.

SQA applicants entering from S5 are required to achieve BBBB by the end of S5. Applicants who achieve less than BBBB by the end of S5 MAY receive a conditional offer, but a decision will not be made on these applications until all applications have been reviewed. Conditional offers to these applicants will require them to achieve AAAAA cumulatively by the end of S6.
