Course Description
Why an Integrated Foundation Stage? An Integrated Foundation Stage starts your degree studies with a year spent learning the skills required to progress onto a full honours degree. Alongside an introduction to Education, you will develop valuable study skills, communication, team work and problem-solving techniques which help to build your confidence and prepare you for the rest of your course.
Why Education? Our Education degree will give you the knowledge and skills to become a creative and analytical educator, using education to improve people’s lives. Sustainability and social justice are central themes of the course and you’ll explore the role of education in global issues such as climate change, inequality and disability. With opportunities to gain valuable experience and contacts on placements in settings such as schools, museums, animal shelters and charities, our graduates stand out from the competition.
Drawing on the expertise of experienced lecturers, you’ll develop your own personal philosophy and career path, whether in teaching or another education-related profession. Optional modules allow you to tailor your study to your own interests and ambitions, for example you could take modules from a course such as History to work within museums, or from Early Childhood Studies to go into early years work. There are also opportunities to improve your employment prospects even further, by undertaking continuing professional development activities and achieving additional qualifications, in areas such as first aid and the Makaton language system.
Why University of Gloucestershire? We’ve been using our expertise to support and inspire students since 1847. Join us and you will benefit from professional-standard facilities in the beautiful, historic surroundings of Cheltenham and Gloucester. Our vibrant and tight-knit community of over 10,000 students and staff paired with a wide variety of courses means you will have the best of both worlds – a diverse community of sports clubs, societies and activities while also benefiting from specialist lecturers who value you as an individual.
