Course Description

Why an Integrated Foundation Stage?

An Integrated Foundation Stage starts your degree studies with a year spent learning the skills required to progress onto a full honours degree. Alongside an introduction to Fashion Design, you will develop valuable study skills, communication, team work and problem-solving techniques which help to build your confidence and prepare you for the rest of your course.

Why Fashion Design?

Our Fashion Design degree will help you develop your own design philosophy and identity, preparing you for a successful career in a dynamic and innovative industry. Developing skills in technical drawing, fabric sourcing, 2D design, 3D drape and pattern design, research, cutting and garment construction, you’ll create and promote your own market-focused catwalk collection. With opportunities to work on live briefs and gain experience with brands and organisations such as TMcollection (Portugal), Superdry, Paul Costelloe, Special Olympics and Feather Studios, our graduates stand out from the competition. There’s also the chance to get involved in renowned fashion events such as London Fashion Week, Clothes Show Live, Graduate Fashion Week and New Designers (additional costs may apply, see course web page for details).

You’ll draw on the expertise of accomplished lecturers, benefit from industry panel critiques and get feedback from fashion designers, garment technologists and print designers from national and international manufacturers and retailers. Our new Design Centre, complete with dedicated fashion design and production studios, offers a special collaborative, creative environment where talent can develop and thrive. You can also take advantage of state-of-the-art facilities and equipment, such as specialist sewing machines, printing facilities, a sublimation printer and Mac computers.
