Mechanical Engineering is behind virtually all aspects of our daily lives and impacts the functioning of many of the systems, machines, and products we rely upon. A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering will provide you with the enhanced training needed to become a key influencer and industry leader overseeing the transformation of a sustainability-focused future.
Accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), which will help you toward achieving Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, this MEng course is designed to give you flexibility in your choice of engineering career pathways after graduation, ranging from renewable energy systems to critical medical appliances. You’ll study the fundamental principles of mechanics, dynamics, heat transfer and fluid flow with design, manufacturing, and business considerations.

In the fourth year of the course, you’ll work on a supervised individual research project. In the fifth (Master’s) year you’ll take part in a team project involving the design, building and friendly competitive testing of either a road, airborne or rail vehicle – for example, Team HARE, Team Hawk or HudRail.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
In addition to A2 Mathematics, A Levels must include one of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Further and Additional Mathematics, Computer Science, Design and Technology: Product Design, or Statistics. BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma Engineering - please note that we do not accept BTEC Computing and Operations as a qualification for entry to this course. The University of Huddersfield is a research university which is maintained through public funding, based in Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, England. The university’s main campus, known as Queensgate, is located within just five minute’s walking distance of Huddersfield city centre.
