Course Description

If you’re a child-minder, a pre-school learning leader or an early-years practitioner, you’ll benefit from the professional development opportunities that go hand-in-hand with this foundation degree.

It's designed to meet the exact but changing needs of employers, and will develop your knowledge and understanding of working with babies and young children.

You'll find yourself developing skills for the early childhood education and care sector, as well as gaining experience in an academic background and developing the attributes that employers value.

It will enable you to develop the skills, expertise and knowledge to apply for Initial Teacher Training or a range of other professional education routes.

You'll be assessed through a combination of written, practical and coursework assessments throughout your degree. Written assessment typically includes exams and multiple choice tests. Practical is an assessment of your skills and competencies. This could include presentations, school experience, work experience or laboratory work. Coursework typically includes essays, written assignments, dissertations, research projects or producing a portfolio of your work.

London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.
