Our programme will provide you with an accredited psychology degree as well as a grounding in the counselling skills required to support individuals in exploring the issues and challenges that underpin their well-being.

You will develop a comprehensive understanding of the theories and frameworks that underpin psychology, whilst advancing your practical skillset in counselling. This will prepare you for employment in a career that can make a tangible difference to people's lives. Throughout the programme you will explore the principal areas of psychology specified by the British Psychological Society (BPS) curriculum.

As no prior knowledge of psychology is required, during years one and two we will provide you with fundamental scientific skills in research design, statistics, qualitative and survey methods. This will enable you to conduct your own research and critically analyse that of others. In your final year you will work with one of our expert academics to complete a research project from a menu of topics.

Please note: this is not a practitioner training programme and does not qualify you to work with clients. However, if you wish to become a qualified counsellor, psychotherapist or counselling psychologist in the future this programme can lead on to these courses of study. You may choose to continue your studies at Keele.
