Course Description

Modern manufacturing is a growing industry worldwide and is continually challenging engineers for more effective use of technology, management systems, production techniques and processes.

The Advanced Manufacturing Systems and Technology MSc has been developed in conjunction with the industry partners to develop industry ready engineers. The programme is designed to provide advanced level knowledge, breadth and depth for modern manufacturing engineers and managers. Institute of Mechanical Engineers LogoFully accredited by the Institute of Mechanical Engineers UK, this programme is constantly updated to reflect the latest developments in technology, management tools and methodologies. This 12-month programme consists of compulsory and optional taught modules over two semesters and a major project starting in semester 2 and continuing through the summer.

Projects Project work contributes 60 credits, which will be based on a topic of industrial or scientific relevance, and will be carried out in laboratories in the University or at an approved placement in industry. The project is examined by dissertation, and award of the MSc(Eng) degree will require evidence of in-depth understanding, mastery of research techniques, ability to analyse assembled data, and assessment of outcomes.
