Course Description

Our MSc in Advanced Applied Field Geoscience is the most fieldwork intensive MSc in the UK. The aim of the MSc is to equip our students with the knowledge, skills, competence and confidence to work in a wide range of practical geoscience careers. Rather than focusing on an individual geoscience career path, we focus on providing a through training in a wide range of geoscience skills including digital data capture and visualization, analytical methods and applied field geology. Fieldwork includes courses in Utah (USA), Finland, Azores, Spain and the UK along with work close to our campus in South Wales.

This is a highly vocational MSc course aimed at providing you with the skills required to enter a wide range of geoscience careers. You will be taught by academics with industry experience or by industry experts. Professional skills are highlighted and developed throughout the course and you will have the opportunity to network with industry professionals. We will provide assistance to students looking to carry out their research dissertation in conjunction with an industry partner.

This course is suited to candidates with a first degree in geology, geophysics, earth sciences or joint honours geology-geography.
