Course Description

Advertising is communication that encourages people to take action. It embraces many different disciplines such as psychology, sociology, business and, of course, design. This Advertising Design course is one of only a few specialist advertising courses in the UK. We focus on creative ideas, technical skills, and understanding contemporary culture. You’ll explore the areas of art direction, copywriting and strategy development, as well as how to design campaigns for all forms of advertising, including digital and traditional print-based.

We have strong links with industry and you’ll work with creative professionals through ‘live’ projects. We’re actively involved in the D&AD (Design & Art Direction) education scheme, which provides opportunities for you to showcase your work to advertising agencies. Your studies here in Cardiff will help you gain creative and technical skills, as well as the confidence, to work in the fast-paced and ever-changing world of advertising. Studying Advertising Design in Cardiff, you’ll be a part of our creative community and have the chance to collaborate with other creative industries students such as photographers, artists and musicians. When you graduate, you could pursue a career as a creative director, brand manager, copywriter, media buyer and planner, digital marketer or account handler.
