Course Description

The Certificate in Higher Education (Cert HE) is a one-year stand-alone course and is designed for students who do not quite meet the entry criteria to go directly onto year 1 of a named degree. Applicants who apply for a degree but who do not meet, or are predicted to meet, the entry criteria will automatically be considered for a Cert HE providing the degree offers a Cert HE route.

The Cert HE follows the same first year modules as the degree with the addition of a 10-credit core module called Enhancing Academic Success. This aims to develop subject specific study skills to help support you in terms of workload, and the requirement for independent learning. Module assessment depends on the course but includes tutorials, practical classes and workshops, as well as directed and independent study.

You will study alongside students on year 1 of the degree and will progress onto year 2 with your classmates, providing you successfully complete the course.

Our rugby coaching course is supported by the WRU and professional rugby regions in Wales. It has been designed in consultation with WRU Coach Education Managers, Cardiff Blues, Newport Gwent Dragons, Scarlets, and Ospreys coach educators, Hudl Performance Analytics experts, and United Kingdom Strength and Conditioning Association (UKSCA) strength and conditioning experts. You can work towards your Rugby Union Level 1 and 2 Children’s and Senior UKCC/WRU Rugby Coaching awards, Level 1 and 2 Refereeing qualifications, and gain relevant experience within Performance Analysis and Strength and Conditioning modules, which provide experience of working in those areas.
