Course Description

Speech and language therapists assess and treat a variety of speech, language and communication problems.

Undertake clinical placements throughout the course in schools, nurseries and hospitals. Approved by the Health and Care Professions Council, our degree provides a route into the profession. Your Career Our graduates have close links with the education and health sectors and many are based in hospitals. Graduates are eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Employers of recent graduates include Down’s Syndrome Scotland, Erskine Hospital for Ex-Servicemen, Mencap, National Autistic Society, and the National Health Service.

Additional fee information

Undergraduate students who live in Scotland will usually have their tuition fees paid by the Student Awards Agency Scotland SAAS. If you have previously attended university or college or are not sure about your eligibility, you should contact SAAS to check your eligibility to have your fees paid. SAAS will pay your tuition fees directly to Strathclyde.

Most undergraduate students from the rest of the UK England, Wales and Northern Ireland will receive a free year of tuition as, assuming no change in Rest of UK fees policy over the period, the total amount payable by undergraduate students will be capped. For students commencing study next session, this is capped at £27,750 with the exception of the MPharm and Integrated Masters courses; MPharm students pay £9,250 for each of the four years. Students studying on Integrated Masters degree programmes pay an additional £9,250 for the Masters year with the exception of those undertaking a full-year industrial placement where a separate placement fee will apply.

London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.
