Course Description
At Surrey Business School, we are renowned for our world-class research, dynamic learning environment and strong industry links.
Our BSc International Business Management (with Foundation Year) course offers a large choice of elective modules and gives you the opportunity to explore our globalised economy and how organisations of all sizes start, run and thrive in international markets.
As a student of Surrey Business School, you will also get hands-on experience with real businesses and gain entrepreneurial and life skills that will allow you to accelerate your innovative thinking into practice, opening up a wide range of career opportunities.
You will study organisations, their management and the global environment in which they operate, giving you a comprehensive business management education with an international perspective, ideal if you have a global outlook and international aspirations.
You’ll get an overview of the most important topics in international business, including emerging markets, globalisation, the role of trust, and comparing markets and business environments in different countries.
As well as building an understanding of multinational companies and their strategies, you will explore how ‘local’ companies compete against global players. You will also build a fundamental skills base and an understanding of how businesses operate.
As well as professional management practice – from accounting and economics to marketing, operations and organisational behaviour – you will be brought face-to-face with the challenges of managing people, finances, operations and customers.
We’re always looking to make it easier to access the education we offer, so we have launched the option of taking a degree with a foundation year.
A foundation year is an extra year of study at the start of your course that leads in to a full degree programme. It’s a great option if:
- You don’t have the grades for a full degree course
- You have non-traditional qualifications or experience
- You’re starting university after some time away from education
- You’re looking for more support during the transition into university study.
During a foundation year you’ll learn about your chosen subject, develop your study skills and get used to university life. On successful completion of your foundation year, you’ll be ready to progress to the first year of your degree course.
As a foundation year student, you’ll be a full student of the University and part of our community. You’ll have access to all our campus facilities and support.
