This course is for you if you’re an academic high-flyer. It offers you the exciting opportunity to work on a cutting-edge research project here at Sussex each summer and get funding to cover your living expenses during that time.

You’ll join our experts and immerse yourself in world-class research. From exploring the smallest particles to the overall structure of the universe, you’ll have the opportunity to work on any of our areas of expertise. In your integrated Masters year you’ll also develop advanced physical skills through working further with one of our expert departmental research groups.

Once you’ve joined us, you’ll have the opportunity to specialise in what inspires you most:

You’ll be part of a close community – our lively Physics Society arranges regular social events. Our building is a real hub of activity. You’ll have all your practical sessions in our modern teaching laboratories. Outside the classroom, you can study or catch up with your friends in our popular student spaces.

MPhys or BSc?

We also offer this course without the research placements, as five-year MPhys with an industrial placement year, as a four-year BSc with an industrial placement year, or as a three-year BSc.

The University of Sussex is a publicly funded research university based in Falmer, Brighton. The university is surrounded by South Downs National Park, which makes it the only English university to be situated in a National Park.
