Course Description

Health psychologists can be involved in a range of activities within the National Health Service (NHS), ranging from providing psychological assessment and support in acute care situations to developments in the provision and management of psychological care and rehabilitation of people with chronic illnesses. Employment opportunities are available in the NHS and industry as well as in academic settings such as teaching and research. The programme provides stage 1 training towards achieving Practitioner Health Psychology status. In addition to coverage of the British Psychological Society (BPS) core curriculum, the course has a particular emphasis on the acquisition of transferable practical and professional skills.

The course uses a wide range of assessments, including poster and seminar presentations, essays, exams, article and model critiques, reflective journals and a dissertation.

Entry Requirements / Admissions

Get advice on which foundation courses are best for you to still study Health Psychology, MSc, if you do not meet the minimum requirements in terms of UCAS score, A levels, or English language requirements.

Honours degree (minimum 2.1) in psychology with Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) at the British Psychological Society (BPS). Non-graduates with appropriate experience in health psychology are also welcome to apply.
