Qualification requirements

Scottish Higher qualifications are considered on an individual basis

All applicants should hold a degree validated by a university in the UK or a degree of an equivalent standard from outside the UK plus have an English qualification of at SCQF Level 6 (Higher English) and Maths of at least SCQF Level 5 (National 5, Intermediate 2 or Standard Grade Credit). The degree qualification must contain a minimum of 80 credit points relevant to the teaching qualification that an applicant plans to qualify for with at least 40 of the credit points studied at Level 8 or above.

Overseas applicants must meet UWS English Language requirements.

PGDE courses are funded in the same way as undergraduate courses. Applicants can apply to SAAS to have tuition fees paid. Eligibility conditions apply; check www.saas.gov.uk for details.

About University of the West of Scotland

Located in the Scottish town of Paisley, we find the University of the West of Scotland (UWS). This institution also owns and operates three other secondary campuses in Ayr, Blantyre and Dumfries.
