Course Description

The Early Years Practitioner Status program is included in Social Care Wales' list of required qualifications to work within the early years and childcare sector in Wales. As part of this programme, students attend a placement in various early years settings to gather the vocational experience necessary to gain Early Years Practitioner Status. It is also a qualification that offers graduate practitioner qualifications in England as part of the Early Childhood Studies Degree Network (ECSDN).

The program is 100% assessed through coursework. There are no exams. We have seen that using a diverse range of assessment methods increases employability skills. Employers are looking for graduates who can solve problems and have a range of transferable employability skills. The assessment provides opportunities to develop skills such as the ability to work in a team, communicate effectively orally and in writing, at the same time as using a range of methods of sharing information including briefing papers, academic posters, debates group and professional discussions. There are also opportunities for practical work experiences, supporting employability, professional development and careers. Bilingual and Welsh-medium study is central to our provision; you can choose to register on the Welsh-medium or English-medium program and you can submit your assignments in either language.
