Course Description

The BA Business and Management programme provides the skills and understanding for graduates to help shape the changing nature of business. Students study traditional business areas from a new perspective which takes account of the challenges of global change, and also examine wider global contexts.

In recent years words like ethics, sustainability and responsibility have transitioned from theoretical debate to very practical considerations within both small and big business. We are reaching a point where sustainable business practice is becoming a key strategic priority, and organisations have begun to realise that not only do future practices and economic models need to transform in line with the dynamics of social and environmental change, but that actually sustainable thinking makes a business more competitive – as noted in The Economist, “Companies with their eye on their 'triple-bottom-line' outperform their less fastidious peers on the stock market".

Our BA Business and Management programme has sustainable thinking at its core and as a learner you will challenge existing paradigms, interrogate new paradigms and debate business solutions which will prepare you for employment in the rapidly changing twenty –first century environment. We hope that our graduates will be a part of shaping business thinking in the world.

As a student of the programme you will experience a flexible, transformational learning approach which aims to increase your employability not just today, but for the rapidly evolving workplace of the future. A report by the World Economic Forum notes that by 2020 35% of the skills that are considered important for today’s employment will have changed; according to the report, the top three skills required by the workforce will be complex problem solving, critical thinking and creativity. By studying BA Business and Management with us you will gain the skills and abilities to creatively solve the problems of the future by engaging in problem based learning which aims to transforms your thinking about business and management, makes you question the accepted and immerses you in collaboration.
