Course Description

Computer Science is a new subject in both the primary and secondary National Curriculum 2014. It replaces ICT. There is a recognised massive national shortage of secondary school Computer Science teachers. This course, BSc (Hons) Computer Science with Secondary Education (QTS), will offer an entry point into the teaching profession.

The course will give you both Computer Science knowledge at degree level and the professional qualification of Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) which will allow you to take up a teaching post within a secondary school.

Minimum Required UCAS Tariff

to include a Level 3 qualification in Computing

Qualification requirements

Including a relevant subject/science @ C or above (80 UCAS tariff points)

Access to HE Diploma

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

In a relevant subject/science (112 UCAS tariff points)

Successfully short listed applicants will be required to attend an interview. A satisfactory DBS check, fitness to teach, medical check and prohibition order check are required. Due to OFSTED compliance, if you are successful you will be required to provide your ORIGINAL certificates to the University of Wolverhampton Admissions Unit.

London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.

The University of Wolverhampton (UWO) is a government funded university divided into four campuses across the West Midlands, Shropshire and Staffordshire in England. The main campus is situated in Wolverhampton city centre, with the other campuses being in Walsall and Telford.
