Course Description

The role of the equestrian coach has been revolutionised in recent years. The modern coach now plays a vital role in the development of the equestrian sporting performance. Key knowledge in areas such as sports psychology, sports nutrition, biomechanics, elite fitness and new technology is now fundamental to enable modern coaches to develop horse and rider partnerships, and help them to fulfil their full potential. If you are passionate about sports coaching and developing specialist knowledge in equestrian training, then this is the course for you.

During the course, students will develop a portfolio of coaching experience teaching a range of equestrian disciplines. They will also benefit from facilities such as our Rider Performance Laboratory including horse simulator and strength and conditioning gym to analysis rider performance. Throughout the course, students will be able to supplement their learning by completing a 1st4Sport equestrian coaching qualification, which is an industry recognised qualification enabling students to coach in the industry post successful completion of the degree.

This course is validated in partnership with Coventry University.

Please note: The agreed maximum rider weight to meet welfare guidelines for the current stock of horses at Moreton Morrell College is 13st 7lbs - this is for a rider dressed in riding attire (boots and riding hat). According to welfare guidelines, WCG are unable to provide horses for riders above this maximum weight at this time. Please consider this and factor this into your decision making regarding your study options.
