London is enriched by its diverse culture, street markets, and globally famous attractions. The city is divided in two by the River Thames, and it’s one of the most famous cities in the world. Students often choose this destination as part of their study abroad programs to have the chance to live in a multicultural city full of employment opportunities, stunning public parks, and business districts. London is a place that offers endless academic opportunities as well as the means to create a dynamic social life for yourself while you study.

PROS

  • One of the favourite things about London for international students is the great cultural diversity the city holds and how this makes them feel much more comfortable.
  • London is full of ways to have a great day out, as well as numerous ways to enjoy new experiences. Overall, the city offers an impressive variety of activities for students when they have some free time from their studies.
  • There are many part-time job opportunities for students who want to get work experience before finishing their studies.

CONS

  • London is a very expensive city to live in, but most universities offer housing for a slightly lower price which is good for those who don’t want to go through the struggle of looking for a place.
  • Students often mention that the residents are too rushed. Life in London can become stressful due to the constant metropolitan bustling.
  • The weather is often a downside for students as it’s often cold and rainy throughout the year, however, its summer is known to be very enjoyable and everyone appreciates the sun when it comes out.

Student Opinions About Studying in London

“It’s a fantastic city full of new places to find every day. You’ll never get bored in London as there is so much to explore. It’s hard to deny that London is an expensive place to live, but if you get a part-time job, it’ll make this a little easier to handle.”

“I love London and its parks. Summer in London was a special time for me, because me and my friends spent a lot of time out in the parks and countryside enjoying the weather. Being in such a big and famous city is a privilege as it has many opportunities to offer. The public transport could be cheaper, but you can get student discounts.”

“Going to a pub or a restaurant in the evenings is part of the culture here which I find to be a worthy tradition. It is expensive to live here, so I would say only those who love to get out and experience a city should pay to live here, otherwise it might not be worth it due to the high rent prices.”
