Student Opinions About Studying in Louisville

“One of my favourite things about Louisville is that it’s a mix between city life and a rural, southern setting. This means that you have access to all the amenities and advantages that a city would normally bring with it, while being able to take a break from all that if you fancy it.”

“It seems like everyone knows each other here, which is sometimes a positive and sometimes a negative depending on the situation. If you’re going out shopping, or to grab something to eat, the chances are that you’re going to bump into someone you know.”

“The locals here are so friendly most of the time, so you should expect to be waving back to the neighbours and striking up small talk with the people next to you in the grocery store. I really appreciate these little things and they brighten my day.”

Louisville Key Facts for International Students

PROS

  • There’s no shortage of cultural attractions and activities to enjoy in Louisville, with their abundant science and history museums, nightlife, theatres, public parks, and numerous events and festivals such as the annual Taste of Louisville, or Nulu Festival.

  • The job market here is known for being relatively stable and active, with many jobs coming from employers such as Ford, General Electric, and UPS world headquarters. Louisville is known for being a city full of startup businesses, so there may be opportunities there.

  • Louisville is a very affordable place to live, with an average rental price of just $1,030 for a 2-bedroom apartment. When divided with another roommate, this ought to leave many residents with a decent amount of disposable income left over to enjoy the activities the city has to offer.

CONS

  • In terms of public transport, Louisville only has a bus service, and a large number of residents live outside the reach of its route coverage.
