About Calderdale College
PROS
- Small class sizes allow students to consult their teachers as often as they need, and with complementary pastoral support, Calderdale students work in an environment that makes them feel attended and looked after.
- Due to the partnerships that Calderdale maintains with businesses around Halifax, work placements are relatively easy to find through the college.
- In addition to the courses and programmes for young learners, there are abundant course options for Adult Learners. These are delivered on an evening and weekend schedule in order to appeal to busy working adults.
CONS
- A recurring complaint is that parking spaces are limited on campus, as it tends to fill up quickly due to being free. For this reason it may be preferable to use public transport instead of a car.
- The college changes timetables often, which can cause all kinds of issues for students, such as making a part -time job impossible.
“I’m almost at the end of my first year studying Education now, and I’ve learned a lot about the way a child’s mind develops, their rights, and how to do a good job of protecting them. My tutor has a preference for lively group discussions, which is much more engaging than a typical textbook approach.”
“The Animal Care Level 2 programme has given me a surprising amount of work to do, but I’m loving it so far. The teachers are relaxed but at the same time are serious and knowledgeable about their subject.”
