Howard University, usually abbreviated to HU, is a historically black, privately funded research institution of higher education located in Washington, D.C. The university has an enrollment of roughly 10,000 students and is organized into thirteen distinct schools where students pursue their undergraduate, graduate, and professional degrees in more than 120 subject areas. Their historic campus is situated on top of a hill in Northwest Washington, just blocks away from U Street and Howard Theatre.
