Highest subject rankings for Leeds Conservatoire
“Studying Classical Music here has been challenging in all the right ways, especially because I didn’t have my A-level qualifications in music. The teachers have worked closely with me to help with areas of music theory that I had been struggling with. A feature that I like is that there’s a module when it’s compulsory to take a work placement in the creative industries.”
“I’ve learned a lot about Contemporary Music in just a short time at Leeds Conservatoire. My main problem with the school is that it’s not very easy to get to because public transport isn’t well connected.
About Leeds Conservatoire
PROS
- Leeds Conservatoire offers facilities and services that put no limit on students’ musical projects. Some of these facilities and services include the ability to borrow a range of instruments and premium equipment, access to dance studios and rehearsal rooms, and much more.
- On the question of where to live while you study, the school offers two student residence halls. Their main housing facility is located on the campus itself, and is known as Joseph Stones House, which offers 9 floors of accommodation, all with en -suite bathrooms and shared living spaces. Just a five minute walk away from the campus, we find the ultra modern and chic One Mill Street location.
- Music education at both the Undergraduate and Graduate level, giving applicants across a wide range of abilities the chance to enter the world of musical academia. With that said, applicants should be aware that this school has a reputation for having a relatively demanding selection process, and for most courses it is necessary to pass an audition.
CONS
- A criticism that music students at Leeds Conservatoire make is that the school does not allow students to permanently store their instruments on -site. For this reason, the risk of moving your instrument throughout the city is something you have to accept as part of the experience.
