Liberty University was founded in 1971 in Lynchburg, Virginia, by Jerry Falwell, the televangelist. It is a privately run Evangelical Christian higher education institution that enrolls over 95,000 students. It’s one of the largest Evangelical Christian universities in the world, and most of its students study their degrees online. The programs at LU have a conservative Christian orientation with three required Bible studies classes.
