“London is one of the best places I can think of for studying modern languages, as I’m doing here. There are all kinds of events taking place around the city that are advertised to speakers of certain languages, so you can go along and practice. The hardest part of living in London is the cost of living, and I had to get a part-time job early on as a consequence.”
“I lived in one of the nicer student residences that belong to UCL, and while the furniture and decor was good quality, there was no living room area for everyone to socialise in and this was frustrating.
About UCL Institute of Education
PROS
- Consistently ranked among the Top 30 universities in the world by Times Higher Education and US News. QS University Rankings lists numerous subjects taught at IoE in their highest ranking categories.
- A large number of UCL students report that finding part -time work is relatively easy in London, and this will be important for many people due to the costs associated with living in this city.
- On -site facilities provide everything most students need, including a library equipped with thousands of volumes of books and journal subscriptions and ample study spaces.
CONS
- One factor to be aware of before moving to London is that the cost of living is high here, including expenses like travel and clothing. The expense of London particularly tends to surprise international students, so it should be investigated properly before arrival.
- UCL student residences lack living room areas according to current and former students, making it difficult for roommates to hang out and get to know each other at home.
