Founded in 1961, the University of Mobile is a private, Baptist higher education institution located in the city of Prichard, Alabama, to the north of Mobile. The university began as a commuter school and gradually added residences to the campus to meet student needs. The student body of nearly 2,000 students is still mainly from the Mobile area and the state of Alabama, though it also includes students from other 34 states and 24 countries.
