The University of Pittsburgh (Pitt) is a state-related public research institution of higher education founded in 1787. Pitt always ranks very well academically and has been praised for its impact on and work within the community as well as for the positive atmosphere and quality of life on campus. The campus is located in the neighborhood of Oakland, the academic, healthcare, and cultural centre of the city of Pittsburgh. Oakland is home to two other universities, hospitals, and several museums so students have more than ample opportunity to socialize with other students, even from other institutions.

  • There are numerous dining options on campus. Students can save time by staying on campus to eat, rather than going elsewhere.
  • Pittsburgh is a city with a lot going on for young people in general, and the reliable bus service gets people where they need to be. Port Authority Transport gives free service throughout Allegheny County.
  • Excellent post -graduation employment statistics, thanks in part to the hard -working career guidance office at Pitt.

CONS

  • Common opinion is that it’s best to live off -campus after the first year.
  • Classes are too large, is one of the main student concerns.
