Course Description

The BSc Business Management and Welsh language course is an innovative and modern one that seeks to combine the main elements of a Business Management degree with the study of the Welsh language and Welsh culture and prepares students for opportunities within the changing labor market in Wales. This combination is intended to improve the variety of professional work opportunities available to graduates by providing a multidisciplinary and broad education in the fields of Business Management and the Welsh language, as well as offering flexible options to students who want to follow different subjects that develop skills language.

By studying Business Management, you will develop a thorough knowledge of the main disciplines relevant to management and business, together with an appreciation of the different functional areas that make up business organisations. Therefore, you will develop a solid core of knowledge in the field of Business Management which will enable you to build on strong foundations to specialize in areas that interest you and reflect your career aspirations. By studying the Welsh language, you will develop high-level skills in the language itself, as well as developing a thorough understanding of its place in contemporary Wales. After the first year, you will have the opportunity to develop expertise by choosing from a variety of optional modules. These cover a variety of areas that are particularly relevant to management and business, including linguistic planning and language policy, sociology of language, sociolinguistics, language technology and professional translation, as well as literary, linguistic and cultural subjects.

The Business School caters for students who want to pursue a career in business and management, reflecting the breadth of our research expertise and current developments in the business world. There are a series of courses available to do in the field of Business Management, and this new scheme adds to our portfolio and gives students the opportunity to study Welsh alongside Business Management.

Welsh is a dynamic and varied discipline, and the wide range of specialist modules offered by the School reflects its richness. There are many areas covered when studying the Welsh language which, naturally, complements the study of business and management, such as language planning (in the public sector, the private sector and the third sector), language policy and language technology.
