CourseGuru SLU collects personal data via forms on this website, which are saved in electronic form for the provision of its services. Personal data collection and processing are aimed at maintaining business relationships, providing information, counselling, registration services and other activities.
Treatment of personal data is legitimized by requesting information and/or contracting the services of CourseGuru SLU or its partners, whose terms are made available prior to a possible contracting or by consent to this privacy policy within the online forms on this site.

Below we inform you in detail about the processing of your data.

1. How we treat your data

1.1 We treat your information very seriously. We won't share your personal information with any third party, except with those that provide you with a service, stated below, in which case you give us the right to share the necessary information in order to proceed with the services offered at our website and guarantee service quality.

1.2 We may collect the following personal data you provide by filling out online forms on our website or via telephone:

- First and last name (and middle name or second last name as applicable), country of residence, nationality, date of birth, address, phone number (and emergency number if needed), e-mail, type of studies, subjects and destinations you are interested in as well as other interests related to your enquiry. This data is required to provide appropriate consultation.

- Language level. This is required by some universities and consultant schools as eligibility to programmes frequently availability for specific starting dates depends on the language level of a student.

- Bank information. Should you choose to make any payment by direct debit, we keep this information until the payment has been debited from your account.

- Credit and debit card information. Should you choose to pay by credit or debit card, the data is saved in encrypted form with our payment provider. We will never see your complete card details. The data is kept until the payment has been guaranteed.

- We don't keep data regarding your gender (unless you request that we address you as Mr. or Ms., then we will keep that form of address), religion, ethnicity or any association.

1.3 We may send you periodic information about offers on our website or programmes or services which may be of interest to you. At any given time you have the right to withdraw and may exercise that right through a link in the footer of the email you receive. We may also provide information in form of online banners related to your interests.

1.4 If you choose to rate your satisfaction with programmes or services listed on our website, your rating will be viewable to other visitors of our website along with your age, country of residence, first name and initial - unless you choose to publish your evaluation anonymously.

1.5 Where you have provided explicit consent, we may share your personal information with third parties to contact you related to enquiries or information requests you submit on our website.

1.6 All data that is submitted on our website will be processed and mostly stored by us, always in line with this privacy policy. This includes data related to questions, consultation and information requests to specific education service providers on our website.

2. Data sharing with other providers

Education Service Providers: The personal information you provide is shared with your chosen education service provider (which may be located outside of the EU). Your payment details (credit card/bank account) will not be shared with the education service provider.

Payment providers: When your payment is made by credit card, debit card, PayPal or Skrill, we do not save your payment related data in our own system or records. In such cases you enter your payment information directly on the website of the payment provider. For credit card or debit card payments your payment data is processed by the PCI-DSS certified payment provider Redsys S.L. located in the EU, in Spain. We will never see your complete card details. Your card details are only saved by the payment provider. We will only have to access a so called “token”, which is an ID associated with your payment, provided by the payment provider.

Hosting services operated by a third party: A third party hosts our web server. This is required to provide a fast and secure web service. All data collected as part of the use of this website or in the online forms provided will be processed on our web server. This hosting provider is located within the European Union. The hosting provider does not have root access to our server and can therefore not access any personal data saved on our server. The hosting provider does however have access to the so-called server log files which contain the IP addresses, date and time of request and the requested file name. The hosting provider will keep this data for a maximum of 7 days. The collection of server log files is required to guarantee a secure operation of the server. We will save server logs afterwards for a duration of maximum 12 months on our own server in order to comply with PCI regulations for the exclusive purpose of facilitating criminal investigations in case of attacks on the web server.

We will always keep the information shared with the mentioned third parties to the minimum required.

3. Use of Cookies

Our website saves so called “cookies”.

Proprietary cookies set by our own website serve to improve the usability of your website visit. Data such as type of educational programme duration, starting date, and destination preferences are saved in cookies to avoid that users have to repeatedly enter this information in different places on our website and to personalize the user experience. This website is promoted in the search result pages of Google, Yandex, Bing as well as on Facebook and on third party websites in their advertising network. For remarketing a cookie is set by these companies upon visiting pages on our site, which allows interest-based advertising. Remarketing allows us to tailor our marketing to better suit your needs and only display ads that are relevant to you.

Our website uses plugins of the above mentioned social media. Google Maps: This website uses Google Maps for the visual presentation of geographic information. Google Maps is operated by Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheater Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA ("Google").

In the interest of making the locations of course providers easily accessible. When using Google Maps, Google transmits or processes data about the use of the Maps features by our website visitors including the IP address and location data. Due to caching, for a large share of visits no such data is transferred as long as the visitor does not click on the map. Our profiles on social media platforms facilitate the communication with our existing and prospective students. We inform them about our services and ongoing promotions.

When you visit our social media profiles your information may be collected and stored automatically for marketing, research and promotional purposes. So-called usage profiles are created than can be used for example to place advertisements inside and outside of the social media platform. For this purpose usually cookies are also saved by the social media platform on your device. As a user of these platforms you were asked upon account creation to consent to this data processing. Your personal data is encrypted using 256-bit SSL technology and is transmitted over the internet in an encrypted format. We secure our website and our other systems through technical and organizational measures against loss, destruction, access, modification or distribution of your data by unauthorized persons.
