Course Description
Reasons to choose Kingston – Kingston has close links to forensic settings in London and the surrounding area. – This course is accredited by the BPS as a Stage 1 master’s programme. After graduating, you may train further to become a chartered forensic psychologist. – Guest speakers are active practitioners in forensic psychology, from prisons, women’s services and other specialist services (eg Broadmoor Hospital).
About this course You will study the application of psychology in various forensic settings and be introduced to the role of the forensic psychologist. You will examine the legal aspects of forensic psychology (eg courts and sentencing) and factors that may lead to criminal behaviour.
Your work placement will last at least 15 weeks (two days a week). Settings include secure hospitals, children’s homes, prison services and youth offending teams. Alternatively, you may be offered a research placement, reflecting your area of interest. You will have one-to-one supervision for your placement and dissertation.

Career opportunities With further training you may become a chartered forensic psychologist. Students have gone on to work as assistant psychologists in secure units and other roles within children’s services, charities and other destinations in the criminal justice system.

For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. About Kingston University
Founded in 1899, Kingston University is located in the suburban town of Kingston upon Thames, London. The university’s four campuses can be found in and around the town centre, with a free shuttle bus helping students to get there. This university offers what they call Flexi-stay accommodation, which allows students to book rooms in their residence halls for periods in which they expect to be studying exceptionally hard.
