The course has a clear focus on music production and combines a broad mix of modules, from technical to creative. The topics you'll cover aim to provide vital skills in advanced music and live sound production, mixing and mastering techniques, immersive audio skills, critical listening and production analyses, game audio, and sound for film and media.

To enhance your learning experience, you'll study in our state-of-the-art, purpose-built facilities, with access to recording studios, mixing studios, industry standard outboard compressors and equalisers, plugins and other software tools. We supplement our teaching with guest lectures and masterclasses from professional music producers, equipment designers and media producers. In recent years, we’ve welcomed producer Tony Platt (AC/CD, Bob Marley, Iron Maiden, Paul McCartney) and live sound engineer Jon Burton (The Prodigy, Pet Shop Boys, Radiohead) to campus, among many others.
You can also participate in an optional supervised work placement in your area of interest in your third year. It is also accredited by the Joint Audio Media Education Support (JAMES), which means it has been acknowledged by industry professionals to meet the industry needs.
You’ll be learning from the best on this course, too, as the University of Huddersfield has been rated Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023.

The University of Huddersfield is a research university which is maintained through public funding, based in Huddersfield in West Yorkshire, England. The university’s main campus, known as Queensgate, is located within just five minute’s walking distance of Huddersfield city centre.
