Bethany, Oklahoma, is a small city within the metropolitan region of Oklahoma City, and only 16 kms from downtown OKC. It’s a good option for students who prefer a relaxed atmosphere, with a community feel, in a city with small shops, galleries and antiques.
Bethany was founded by members of the Church of the Nazarene in the early 20th century as a haven from outsider interference. The newly settled town had very strict rules of conduct, in line with the teachings of their church and was dependent on local agriculture for its subsistence. Attitudes have relaxed significantly in the last 100 years, but it remains a relatively conservative place.
There are plenty of scenic parks where you can disconnect from your workload and spend time with friends. Bethany has many activities for students to fill up their spare time and for those who want to explore a little more, Oklahoma City is just around the corner.

“Bethany is a great little town where people help one another. I would describe the city as a safe place despite its crime rates. There’s always something to do, you just have to get used to living in a small city and appreciate the smaller things like coffee shops and parks.”
