Maine Maritime Academy (MMA) is a public college dedicated to maritime training based in the coastal town of Castine, Maine. Their student body tends to number around 950, whose individuals are enrolled in courses relating to engineering, management, science and transportation. MMA is proud of their preference for a hands-on learning approach which places students on placements aboard training ships and vessels. Many students are attracted by the opportunity to sail international waters while becoming world-class mariners and engineers.

- The professors are true experts in their field, and their knowledge comes from real experiences working in their industry.

- Students feel infantilized by the academy staff, as they frequently check that they are not breaking the rules when friends visit each others’ dorms.
- One of the most common complaints from commuting students is that it’s difficult to park on the campus.
- There is not much to do in the area. Students say the closest place you can go is Bangor, Maine, which is 45 minutes away.
