Wilfrid Laurier University, otherwise known as WLU, is a government funded university in Waterloo, Ontario. It’s name comes from Sir Wilfrid Laurier, the seventh Prime Minister of Canada. WLU has an enrollment of approximately 17,000 full-time and part-time undergraduate learners, and more than 1,500 full-time and part-time graduate students.

About Wilfrid Laurier University

PROS

  • One of the most popular features on campus is the university’s abundant societies and clubs. There are around 270 student groups, with an estimated 6,000 taking part. Some of the most prominent include the WLA Film Society, the Medieval Students Society, and the Laurier Creative Arts Society.
  • There is a strong sense of community here, which is attributed to the 17 student residency buildings belonging to WLU. This brings more than 3,000 students together into shared spaces.
  • Academically, students like that the university offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a wide variety of subjects.

CONS

  • Some teachers are less passionate than others according to many students. For this reason, some would like to see a standardisation of teaching styles.
