Course Description
You will develop a thorough understanding of how children learn and the skills needed to develop into an innovative and creative teacher who can make a real difference to the lives of young people. The school locations are in a wide variety of locations. including urban and rural schools, mainstream schools and special schools where you get support from experienced staff to learn how to prepare appropriate work plans and consider assessment and reporting strategies.
This exciting Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) degree trains you as a primary teacher specially qualified to teach in Wales and is equally valid for those who want to teach in the rest of the UK and beyond. It's a great time to come and study to become a teacher in Wales. Education in Wales is entering an exciting new era and developing a first class curriculum for schools. Bangor University, which has a longstanding excellent reputation for teacher training and education, is in partnership with high quality schools in north Wales who have played an important role in planning the course you will study. This course is presented as part of the CaBan Partnership between schools, Bangor University, the GwE Regional Consortium and the CIEREI research institute. Together we share the common goal of educating the next generation of educators of international standard, from initial teacher education to continuous professional learning throughout their career.
Our partner schools have well-trained mentors who will support your progress towards becoming an outstanding and innovative teacher. Tutors and experienced researchers at the university and school staff will offer excellent support and stimulating learning sessions at the university and at the school on placement. Students on this Welsh medium course will be placed in Welsh medium schools and we will support and encourage you to develop your Welsh skills further in an educational setting throughout the course.
'International Experience Year' and 'Year on Placement' options are available for this course. You will have the opportunity to consider these options fully after starting your course in Bangor and you can apply to transfer to one of these options at the appropriate time.
