Course Description

Effective project management skills are in great demand in an increasingly collaborative, uncertain and complex global environment.

This MSc in Project Management aims to provide graduates with a broad range of specialist and advanced tool-sets of both technical and interpersonal skills that will equip them to develop successful careers in the demanding and rapidly expanding field of project management.

Project Management is a life skill and applies to every sector from Engineering, Construction, Built Environment, Oil and Gas, Energy/Renewable/Clean Energy, Utilities, Manufacturing and Production, Banking, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Information Systems, Health, Social Care, Public Services, Government, Charity (Non-Governmental Organisations), Third Sectors, Retail, Media and Creative Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises (SME), Legal, Capacity development, Local Content and many other Professional Services. This course will cater the needs for most sectors and industries by embedding a range of Project Management methodologies and methods such as Linear (Traditional/Waterfall), Agile, Scrum, Kanban, PRINCE2 and Project Management for Sustainable Development.

Project Management, Programme Management and Portfolio Management body of knowledge will weave throughout this Master's degree and will provide a framework to explore fundamental and contemporary theory relating to methodologies, processes, tool-sets, leadership, cultural diversity and behaviours, operations, strategy, systems, change, risk, innovation, commercial and stakeholders' management. This coupled with an in-depth exposure to cutting edge practice across a range of sectors will enable graduates of the MSc Project Management to deliver successful projects, programmes and portfolios in organisations of all sizes.

Overall, student experience is central to the MSc Project Management and is at the heart of everything that we do and deliver in this course.

Grading & Study Time

The MSc Project Management is assessed using a variety of methods including individual coursework, presentations, group practical assessment and debates.

Prospective students should hold an undergraduate degree (normally of classification 2:2 or above), or:

A Higher Apprenticeship in Project Management with two years relevant work experience in a project team role, or:

In some instances those with higher level professional qualifications may be exempt from certain taught modules. Such exemptions would be discussed on a case by case basis with the Program Director.

For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental.
