Course Description

The BSc (Hons) Sport, Physical Education and Health (Dance) degree programme at Cardiff Met provides a practically based course focusing on current and future developments in the sector and recognises the contribution Sport and Dance plays within physical education.

The programme values and challenges students within a supportive learning environment and provides opportunities to access, understand and apply research in the enhancement of innovative practice and to understand the future role of physical educators.

The specialist Dance pathway within the programme focuses on the applied place of Dance as a creative art and physical activity and explores its contribution to the areas of Education, Community and Health and Wellbeing with opportunities to: Create, Perform and Teach.

Through Cardiff Met's excellent links with Industry, application and development of Dance in these contexts will be explored; there will be opportunities to engage in work-based learning and placement experiences over the three years that will support the development of future creative and innovative Dance practitioners.

The course is delivered and managed by academics with a wealth of research, innovation and applied experience. It has been designed in an inspiring and progressive way, in which the curriculum becomes more focused and specialised across the three years of study.

Alongside the degree programme students have the opportunity to complete professionally-recognised qualifications and engage with further diverse learning experiences; all of which enhance and enrich the time students have with us at Cardiff Met. The degree programme encourages students to embrace all the opportunities that are available to them to develop academically, personally, and professionally.
