Course Description
Our Physics with Astrophysics and Cosmology MSci course will give you an understanding of fundamental aspects of physics, astrophysics and cosmology covering areas such as special and general relativity, quantum mechanics, fields and waves, the physics of planets, stars, galaxies and the universe. Approximately one quarter of the course is astrophysics and cosmology related. You’ll carry out extensive astrophysics or cosmology related project work in your fourth year to gain an insight into the skills and conduct of scientific research. You’ll be taught by academic staff who have links to the Large Hadron Collider at CERN and the LIGO gravitational wave observatory.

Please note that A-level General Studies, Critical Thinking, Thinking Skills and Global Perspectives are not accepted by King's as one of your A levels. AAA including A in both Mathematics and Physics OR A*AB including A* Mathematics and A in Physics OR A*AB including A in Mathematics and A* in Physics. NOTE: If you are taking linear A levels in England, you will be required to pass the practical endorsement in all science subjects.
Must be combined with two Scottish Advanced Highers. We do not count the Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject.
Access to Science Diploma (or similar subject). This must include substantial focus at Level 3 (with Distinction) on both Mathematics and Physics.
Must be combined with three Scottish Highers. We do not count the Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject. Must include Advanced Higher Mathematics and Physics.
Including either 6,6,6 at Higher Level with HL6 in both Mathematics and Physics OR 7,6,5 at Higher Level including HL7 in Mathematics and HL6 in Physics OR 7,6,5 at Higher Level including HL6 in Mathematics and HL7 in Physics. The total point score of 35 includes TOK/EE. Note: IB students studying the new Maths curriculum would be required to study Analysis and Approaches at Higher Level to meet the subject requirement for this programme

Combinations of Pre-U principal subjects and other qualifications (such as A-levels) will be considered. Three Pre-U Principal subjects at either: D3 D3 D3 including D3 in both Mathematics and Physics OR D2 D3 M2 including D2 Mathematics and D3 Physics OR D2 D3 M2 including D3 Mathematics and D2 Physics.
