Course Description
Law is concerned with the study of the obligations, duties and rights which every member of society has in relation to one another and to the state. The study of law is regarded not as purely vocational, but part of a broader education. Please note, however, that studying law within the BA degree will not qualify you for entry to the legal profession. For professional qualifications in Law students follow the LLB programme. Education is essential if you're hoping to study initial teacher education courses. We offer you the chance to develop knowledge of the education systems of Scotland and beyond, looking at issues including policy, social justice, equity and inclusion.
Why Education and Law at Strathclyde?
Opportunity to put theory into practice in a community placement and enhance your employability.
Develop your knowledge and understanding of the education systems of Scotland and beyond.
Joint Honours Education graduates will be able to explore postgraduate routes into teaching careers (via the PGDE).
Our BA degrees in Humanities & Social Sciences are initially broad-based. In Year 1, you'll study three subjects, including your chosen subject(s).
Your Career
Our graduates will have opportunities to work in professions associated with education, for example, in law, psychology, journalism, the Civil Service, and the Museums Service. A joint Honours degree in Education and another subject will qualify you to apply for the Professional Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) course, either primary or secondary.

SAAS will pay your tuition fees directly to Strathclyde.
Most undergraduate students from the rest of the UK (England, Wales and Northern Ireland) will receive a free year of tuition as, assuming no change in Rest of UK fees policy over the period, the total amount payable by undergraduate students will be capped. For students commencing study next session, this is capped at £27,750. Students studying on Integrated Masters degree programmes pay an additional £9,250 for the Masters year with the exception of those undertaking a full-year industrial placement where a separate placement fee will apply.
