Student Opinions About Studying in Canterbury
“Canterbury is densely populated with students, which means you’re constantly meeting new people. This place probably isn’t suited to those people who need the busy rush of a big city, because there’s a more relaxed pace to life here. Every day I take a walk through Westgate Gardens to feed the ducks, and people say hello here so I normally make an acquaintance.”
“This city is so rich in culture and history, and the cathedralis an impressive sight to walk by no matter how many times you see it. I could do with fewer tourists around town as it gets overcrowded at times, but overall it doesn’t impact me too negatively. I still enjoy my routine working in the centre.”
“Canterbury doesn’t have what I would consider a good nightlife scene, but there are a few dependable and legendary bars that everyone meets up in after work. Public transport is probably the aspect of living here that I would improve the most if I could, because the bus service is fairly limited compared to that of larger cities. This means I end up paying for taxis all the time.”

It’s a quiet place to live, and there are there are many spaces to meet with friends and socialise. One of the most popular locations is Westgate Gardens.
CONS
-
Canterbury isn’t well known for having a student culture, although there are places to go out if that’s what you’re looking for.
-
It’s a touristic city and often overcrowded, especially near the more famous attractions, and some students say they wish it were less busy.
-
Some students have mentioned that they would like there to be a better public transport service, there is an over-dependence on expensive taxis and Ubers.
