“My time here has involved meeting talented professionals on a weekly basis, but it’s definitely hard work and you can expect to lose a lot of sleeping hours. If you’ve got the passion, I can only recommend this school.”
“I’m very impressed with the facilities in general here, especially their performance stage which is one of the largest proscenium arch stages in London. We also have all the equipment we need to perform scenes suspended in the air with reinforced cables. London is expensive, but on the positive side there is never a boring moment.”
About Guildhall School of Music and Drama
PROS
- Features two performance halls in one building, imitating a full -sized theatre but scaled down to a smaller size. This allows students to work in a realistic environment that prepares them for performances that come later in their careers.
- Guildhall takes leisure and relaxation seriously, providing a wide variety of clubs that students can sign up for in their free time. Some popular examples include the Comedy Club, a Mindfulness group, and the Baking Club.
- Living in the school’s accommodation is recommended, to avoid paying London’s infamously high private rental rates. Their dedicated student hall is called Sundial Court, and is less than a 5 minute walk away from your classes.
CONS
- Due to the lack of free time that most students have, there is minimal interest for Clubs and Societies among learners. Those who attend Guildhall explain that they have too much work to be able to give much time to clubs.
- The school doesn’t have a dedicated Career Services team, however, all students receive some informal guidance from the experienced professionals that they work with during projects.
