Course Description

Our course gives you the skills, experience and contacts you need to have a sustained career as a manager in the creative industries and performing arts.

You start with a broad curriculum that allows you to explore and discover the many roles that exist. From the second year, you can specialise by following one of three management pathways: Music Industry Management; Management for Live Events or Theatre and Screen. If you wish, you can continue with a broad curriculum, selecting two options from the three pathways. We provide a creative environment for you to experiment and learn, as you expand your skills and knowledge and build a unique portfolio of creative, engaging and enterprising projects that you have managed and delivered.

This course was previously titled BA (Hons) Management of Music, Entertainment, Theatre & Events.

You will be assessed through practical, verbal, and written work, including such things as presentations, tutor observation of your practical work, essays, short reports and evaluations, open book tests, spoken ‘viva’ reports and in your final year, a research-based project, which can be either a traditional written dissertation, or a more ‘practice-based’ project. All of your assignment tasks are designed to be relevant to and reflective of the work and knowledge you may be expected to engage with as a professional within the Creative Industries and Performing Arts. During your time as a Management student at LIPA, you will devise, produce, manage, and deliver a range of projects and creative products, taking on an increasing amount of individual responsibility for your work as you progress through each year. **Practical/Academic work ratio** **50% practical assignments / 50% academic assignments**

Minimum Required UCAS Tariff

Minimum of five GCSEs grade 4 (C) including English and Maths. Other equivalent level 2 literacy and numeracy qualifications will also be considered. Minimum of 96 UCAS points is normally required. This equates to: * Three A-Levels at grade C. Points from AS and Key Skills are not counted * BTEC Extended Diploma – Merit, Merit, Merit * BTEC Diploma – Distinction, Distinction We accept all equivalent UK and overseas qualifications including Advanced Diplomas, Irish Leaving Certificate, Scottish Highers, European, International and Welsh Baccalaureate, Abitur, Vitnemål and SAT/ACT.

About Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts

The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) is a Music, Dance, and Acting college that was founded by Mark Featherstone-Witty, as well as Paul McCartney. Students here have access to all the facilities they could need, such as state-of-the-art audio recording studios, the George Harrison Workshop Studio, Sennheiser TV Studio, among many others. LIPA does not deliver university degrees, but instead awards its graduate students “Companionships”.
