Course Description

Our students demonstrate care, competence and compassion in everything they do. We have a long-standing commitment to teaching nursing at Essex and we are confident that our graduates possess the values necessary for practice in today’s world. As one of our students, you will develop the capacity to work autonomously in a client centred contemporary health setting, and gain the communication skills and courage to speak up and challenge when things are wrong. While the Adult and Mental Health Nursing courses are different in their career outcomes, they share the same values base and share some modules throughout the programmes.

Qualification requirements

Including Standard Level Mathematics or Maths Studies and English grade 4 or above (if not taken at Higher Level). Maths and English in the IB is not required if you have already achieved GCSE Maths and English at grade C/4 or above or 4 in IB Middle Years Maths. We are happy to consider a combination of separate IB Diploma Programmes at both Higher and Standard Level. Exact offer levels will vary depending on the range of subjects being taken at higher and standard level, and the course applied for. Please contact the Undergraduate Admissions Office for more information.

Entry requirements for students studying BTEC qualifications are dependent on subjects studied. Advice can be provided on an individual basis. The standard required is generally at Distinction level.

In addition all applicants require GCSE Mathematics and English at grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).

London costs approx 34% more than average, mainly due to rent being 67% higher than average of other cities. For students staying in student halls, costs of water, gas, electricity, wifi are generally included in the rental. Students in smaller cities where accommodation is in walking/biking distance transport costs tend to be significantly smaller.
