Secondary TAR - Modern Languages (with WAC)
Bring Languages to life for pupils by following our PGCE - Modern Languages programme. A combination of lectures, seminars and practical experience will give you a detailed understanding of how pupils learn and provide you with the skills and knowledge you need to develop into a creative and innovative teacher of International Languages.
Here at Bangor, we will ensure that you have the qualities required, not only to be an excellent International Languages teacher, but also a Languages, Literacy and Communication teacher, by giving you the opportunity to explore other aspects of the Language Curriculum, although to ensure that you are fully prepared to meet the needs of Curriculum for Wales.
Why study with us?
Where better to study for your PGCE Modern Languages qualification than here in Bangor, where hearing and speaking more than one language is normal. French and German are currently the main languages taught in secondary schools in North Wales, and some schools offer some Spanish.
Experienced tutors and researchers will provide you with the skills you need to become the educators of the future. Lead School experiences with trained mentors, together with two School Placements will support your development towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTA).
You will have the opportunity to study while immersing yourself in the culture and language of Wales, here in the beauty of North Wales. You will also receive professional support for learning Welsh whether you are a complete beginner or a fluent user of the language.
Be an inspiration for the next generation.
This PGCE with QTS is recognized throughout England and Wales and is often transferable further afield for entry into the teaching profession. Those seeking to teach outside of England and Wales should check the recognition and transferability of Qualified Teacher Status with the Professional Body of Teachers in the country concerned.
