Course Description
Please note that Combined Honours degrees at Liverpool Hope University are split 50/50. This means both subjects will be studied equally.
Philosophy & Ethics Through close attention to the primary texts of philosophers such as Plato, Aquinas, Descartes, Hume, Kant and Nietzsche, our Philosophy and Ethics degree will help you learn to analyse and evaluate arguments, and to compose and communicate your own ideas in a reasoned way. You will have a grounding in the foundational questions of philosophy. As you progress, you will look in depth at philosophy of religion, political philosophy, applied ethics and issues of human personhood, artificial intelligence and animality.
The degree is taught by a core team of critical academics who are passionate about teaching and are internationally recognised researchers and writers. This degree will equip you with the intellectual skills and perspectives needed to face the ethical and ideological challenges of the contemporary world.
Sport & Physical Education Studying Sport and Physical Education at Liverpool Hope University gives you a skills-based theoretical, practical and applied experience which is underpinned by a foundation in subject knowledge and research skills. These include applied and theoretical approaches to sport psychology, performance and technique, sport analysis, sport management, sociology and history, and coaching science and development.
Within all disciplines you will approach the effect of sport, physical education and activity on individuals and society as a whole, emphasising the ethical issues relating to competition, participation and also the issues relating to health and wellbeing. You will be taught by a team of lecturers who are all experts in their field and widely published academics. You also have full access to the multimillion pound, state-of-the-art Health Science Building and Sports Complex, incorporating a running track, dedicated research space and new teaching laboratories.

About Liverpool Hope University
Liverpool Hope University, also known as Hope, was founded in 1844 on the outskirts of Liverpool. Hope is formally affiliated with the Christian-Ecumenical religion, and provides spaces to practice your faith, including the EDEN building and Hope Chapel. Applicants can expect to find 12 research centres here, 2 modern libraries with knowledgeable librarian staff, and all of the on-site amenities you would expect as a student.
